Genesis Global Limited have had their gambling licence suspended, which has meant that 12 of the online casinos that they operate have been severely impacted.

The 12 online casinos which have been closed down consist of Casino Cruise, Casino Gods, Casino Joy, Casino Planet, Casoola, Genesis Casino, Kassu, Pela, Sloty, Spela, Spin It, Vegas Hero.

The UKGC has given no official reasoning as to why GGL have had their license suspended. However, they have broken compliance issues of some sort. A breach of a condition within the license leaves the UKGC with no choice but to suspend them while they investigate.

How Long Will It Last?

The suspension began on July 20th and will run through until further announcement. During this time, it is illegal for GGL to offer gambling services on their websites. This includes all real event betting, virtual betting and casino games. However, customers can access their accounts to withdraw any outstanding balance. Any customer queries can be taken straight to the operator to discuss what they can and cannot do.

The UKGC’s official announcement said: “We suspect that Genesis Global Limited has breached a condition of the licence (section 116(2)(a) of the act)) and is unsuitable to carry on the licensed activities (section 116(2)(c)(i)) of the act). We, therefore, consider it appropriate to suspend the licence with immediate effect pending the conclusion of the review. The licence suspension, effective from July 20th 2020, makes it illegal for Genesis Global Limited to offer gambling services via the following websites in Great Britain.”

What Caused it?

A breach of UKGC obligations can be one of numerous things. No specific reason has been given just yet but it appears that compliance issues have had an impact.

Suspensions can have lasting effects on these groups as Everymatrix discovered. Once their suspension was implanted in September 2019, they were quick to leave the UK white-label market.

This is not the first time recently that a potential casino ban has been in the news recently. The EFL encouraged the government to not ban gambling sponsors within football.

Alternatives to Genesis

If your favourite game has now been suspended then you may want to look for an alternative to play. There are plenty of other casinos still operating such as Dunder, Casoola or Jazzy Spins. There are plenty of fun games to try out within those.
