Top 5 Casino Songs

Nothing beats a good tune, and what we love most about playing online casino games compared to a brick-and-mortar casino is that you can be your own DJ. Gone are the days of standard elevator/jazz-style casino playlists! While you can always play your favourite songs, we thought it would be fun to take a look at some of the songs that are based in and around casinos. So whether you enjoy contemporary music or something more old-school, here are our top 5 songs that are based on a casino.

Ace of Spades: Motörhead

If you are a rock fan and want something a little more energetic and upbeat for your casino night, then this is the song for you. The most well-known song by Motörhead, “Ace of Spades,” is very clearly a song about all things betting. In a February 2011 discussion with Mojo magazine, Lemmy recalls creating the song: “‘Ace of Spades’ is unbeatable, apparently, but I never knew it was such a good song. Writing it was just a word-exercise on gambling, all the clichés.” This song would go on to become not just Motörhead’s trademark song but also one of the greatest rock’n’roll anthems of all time! This is a great tune to play before going to casino or at a casino-themed party.

Luck be a Lady: Frank Sinatra

Betting has been a fun recreational activity for generations, so it’s hardly surprising that the subject has been included in music, television, and other forms of pop culture. If you are after a more jazzy relaxed song while you are playing, you can’t beat a bit of Frank Sinatra. Because the singer is known for producing love songs, the title may give the impression that he is singing about that. However, our interpretation is that he is referring to luck in the context of wagering. The musical Guys and Dolls also included the song in their production. The lyrics depict the perspective of a player, Sky Masterson, who aspires to win a wager that will determine whether or not he is able to salvage his relationship. We think this timeless classic is fantastic for an upscale, relaxing casino night.

Poker Face: Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga’s Poker Face is probably one of the most well-known pop songs of the 2000s. The song itself is an upbeat dance track with lyrics describing playing at a casino. A “poker face” is when a player at a casino appears impassive and expressionless, despite what their hand is like. Having a poker face is a way to not give away your hand to your opponents and potentially have them take advantage of the round. With references to card games, Texas Hold’em and other casino terminology, Poker Face is definitely a casino lovers anthem. This is a playlist staple if you are playing a slot tournament or poker with your friends.

The Gambler: Kenny Rogers

Next on our list is aptly named ‘The Gambler’. The song itself is a country classic that requires no introduction. The Gambler by Kenny Rogers is the perfect tune for an old-school poker player. The song, a 1978 pop-country crossover smash, recounts the tale of a gambler on a train and the advice he has to provide. Some of the lyrics even give poker players advice, such as “Know when to fold’em,” which urges you to let go of cards you believe will not win a round. Giving sound advice (knowing when to walk away) it’s a good song to round up the night.

Viva Las Vegas: Elvis Presley

Elvis Presley’s Viva Las Vegas is easily one of the best Las Vegas songs, and as the casino mecca of the world, we had to add it to the list. The song perfectly illustrates Sin City and the glitz and glamour encircling it. The ultimate casino anthem and one of The King of Rock n’ Roll’s most well-known songs, “Viva Las Vegas,” first debuted in Elvis Presley’s film with the same name. The upbeat 1964 song perfectly captures the spirit of Las Vegas. Whether you are prepping for a trip to Vegas or just want to play some casino games at home and want to be transported there, this one is for you.
