We might not remember it very well anymore, but there was a time when having a personal phone that could surf the internet, instant message our friends and make calls seemed like a thing from science fiction. Now nearly five decades on from the first brick mobile phones, we are entering the world of the 5G revolution and despite all the conspiracy theories, we are very excited for this latest innovation in mobile technology.

Most people would have first heard of 5G when it was debated whether the Chinese tech giant Huawei should be allowed to supply this new hardware. This concern was given credence by the former USA President Donald Trump when he visited the UK back in June 2020.

5G signal has so many benefits including 300 megabits per second average speed, 10 gigabytes per second maximum speed, this means that you can download a 4.7GB DVD in four seconds.

In this article, we are going to look at what this new innovation could bring to the mobile online casino world.

How 5G will help Online Casinos

It is thought that the gaming industry is worth $525 billion by the end of 2021. The future does seem to be with mobile gaming as it is estimated that 2.4 billion people will play mobile games this year. This estimation has taken into account the launch of 5G in more areas than ever. The innovation as previously mentioned will give players the ability to play games faster than ever before.

The gambling industry is a subsidiary of gaming in general and has seen an increasing push online. This is mainly due to advances in technology.

The faster speed of 5G will lead to more people being able to enjoy high-quality gaming on the go whether that is on one the live dealer games such as poker or blackjack.

5G promises speed that will blow the previous 4G signal out of the water due to the increased bandwidth of 5G. This will mean that there won’t be the blockages that are associated with multiple users online at once which was some kind of digital traffic jam, which is another leap forward in innovation.

The other big step up is the latency of 5G. Currently, you are looking at a latency rate of around 10mS on 4G, now with 5G, that rate is gonna drop as low as 0.5mS which is an incredible innovation.

This means that games will be faster and more engaging than before. For example, blackjack is a fast-moving game and as you a will be interacting with the dealer, when you play at a live casino you will need to be hooked up to a high-quality live stream. This means with 5G you will be able to maintain this connection and you will never miss a hand due to the increased speed and smoothness of the latency.

All in all the innovation of 5G is going to be revolutionary like 4G before it. However, like the previous innovation of 4G, it will take a while for this level of coverage to reach all corners of the country. If you are lucky enough to live somewhere which is covered by 5G, you will notice immediately.
