Marcus Boyle Appointed New Chair of UKGC

Marcus Boyle has been appointed as the new Chair of the UK Gambling Commission. Boyle was appointed by the UK Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden on 5th September 2021. Boyle has been appointed for a term of five years which will see him be in the position at the time of the next General Election in 2024. 

He will be taking over from Bill Moyes, who was also in the role for five years. Boyle has a background in finance, and he will oversee the first major review of gambling laws for over 15 years. 

Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden had this to say about the appointment of Boyle: “His expertise will be invaluable as he steers the Commission into a new era of gambling regulation fit for the digital age. New leadership will bring a new direction and focus for the Commission and I very much look forward to working with Marcus.”
