As children of the 90s, we were looking forward to this one, but as far as the theme and presentation go, were left just a little disappointed. There’s nothing wrong with the quality on offer, but a little more effort with the audio and visual choices would have enhanced the nostalgic appeal. Of course, looks and theme aren’t everything, and it's tough to be too hard on a slot which offers excellent value and delivers in the gameplay department. Those Mystery Symbols do just enough to keep the base game interesting, whilst the generous free spins totals and Progressive Multiplier deliver all the thrills you would expect.

The playing card values do what playing card values do but benefit from a distinctly 90's font and metallic sheen. The higher pays are nicely illustrated and fit the theme well, although the Rubik’s Cube and Boombox do appear to have strolled into town from the 80s.

Quite how 90's this soundtrack is probably depends on your particular musical memories of the era. Having been more into the indie scene, we must have missed the pan-pipe, vinyl-scratching, random female warbling, Jazzy Jeff “Ah-Yeah’s”’ genre. Still, we can’t rule out that there may have been a market for this type of thing back then, and it all passes by pleasantly enough.

Our Verdict 90’s Mania Megaways is a good-looking slot, with the slightly dumbed-down detailing doing a nice job of creating an outdated vibe befitting the theme. If we are to be picky, the soundtrack didn’t really hit the mark for us, whilst a couple of the symbol choices are a little dubious.
