The witching season will soon be upon us and what better way to get into the spirit than with a seriously spooky slot game. According to legend, the game depicts the tale of a young woman who finds a bedevilled jewellery box, which in turn manipulates her to committing unspeakable terrors.
Halloween Jack comes courtesy of Net Entertainment Games and is a five-reel, three-row slot game with twenty pay lines. Wagers range from 20p to £100 per spin, with a max pay-out at 3000x the stake.
There are plenty of creepy bonus features in this frightening game, including re-spins, walking wilds and free spins where cursed Jack-o’-lanterns will grant you three other wild features. All of the bonuses conform to the scary theme and make for a spookily entertaining experience. Got Goosebumps yet? With a genuinely haunted soundtrack, top-quality graphics and scarily good gameplay, Halloween Jack is terrifyingly good fun.
Graphics and theme
NetEnt have committed to the Halloween theme in this game. At the core of the game are the symbols, which are a deck of cards with five premium picture symbols. These five are a horseshoe, a raven, a bat, a horse and a super scary female vampire. This last horrible creature is the most valuable though and gives you 50 times your stake for five across a pay line.
The whole game is set in what looks like a misty graveyard, presided over by a skeleton statue on the left-hand side of the screen. When you win big, skull-shaped coins begin erupting from the spin button in a satisfying animation which is accompanied by the pleasing sound of coins falling on one another. As expected, the backing music is appropriately ghoulish, making you believe that you are inside some sort of horror movie waiting for the monster to jump out.
This online casino game comes with three main special features. The first is the Walking Wild Feature which concerns the Halloween pumpkin symbol, which is the wild and can substitute for all symbols except for the scatter and lantern symbol. Any win involving this wild symbol will then apply a 3x multiplier. When the pumpkin symbol appears, this feature is automatically triggered.
Second is the Free Spins Feature. This feature is only activated once you get three or more treasure chest scatters anywhere on the reels. Once you have collected these, you will get a prize of 10 free spins. If you are lucky enough to get three or more of these scatters during the feature as a whole, you get five additional free spins. With this, your potential total will be 15.
The walking wilds feature, as previously discussed, can be activated on any free spin. This occurs when the wild materialises on any of the three centre reels. A combination of any type with a wild is enhanced with a 3x multiplier.
Finally, there is the Jack’ o’ Lector feature. Again, this feature involves looking out for a symbol, this time a lantern, which appears only on reel five during the feature. When it appears, it will trigger the ‘Jack ‘o’ Lector feature which provides you with three additional wilds which are described as follows:
Number 1: The Stacked Hell Hound Wild. This wild is activated when you collect three lanterns with the subsequent wild turning up on the reels which becomes a 2-high Stacked Hell Hound wild. In addition, this will also trigger the Walking Wild feature.
Number 2: If you manage to collect six lantern symbols, with the next wild to appear on the reels, it will become a 3-high stacked Jack’ o’ Lantern wild. In addition, this will also trigger the Walking Wild feature.
Finally, Number 3: If (lucky for you) you should manage to collect 9 of these lanterns, the next wild will become what has been scarily called the Expanding Death Reaper wild symbol. This means you will get a wild reel which moves one reel at a time with each free spin.
Game How to Play
As mentioned, once you have set up the wager and coin value using the controls on the panel at the bottom of the screen, the rest of the game should be pretty straightforward. The main things to keep an eye out for are the Walking Wild feature, free spins and the various permutations of the Jack ‘o’ Lector feature. With each spin anything could happen, resulting in a variety of petrifying prizes.
