New Jersey Responsible For Largest BetMGM Jackpot Win of 2022
Casino operator BetMGM paid out $104.4 million in progressive jackpot payouts to players during 2022, with its single biggest payout coming in the state of New Jersey.
The jackpot in question was a $2.8 million payout to one bettor playing the online slot game, Bison Fury, in April 2022.
Bison Fury proved to be a lucrative jackpot provider in New Jersey as another Garden State player also won a $2.2 million jackpot from the same game - BetMGM’s fifth largest payout for the year.
Overall New Jersey ended up ranking second for BetMGM progressive jackpot payouts in 2022, with players winning $30.2 million - equivalent to 29% of BetMGM’s total for the year. Michigan ($38.3 million) and Pennsylvania ($28.9 million) rounded out the top three.
Matt Prevost, chief revenue officer at BetMGM, said “We take tremendous pride in eclipsing the $100 million mark for jackpot payouts to BetMGM Casino players.
“We continue to innovate our online gaming product and look forward to offering some of the highest progressive jackpots in the United States in 2023.”
BetMGM’s largest payout for 2022 has already been matched in the new year, as another New Jerseyan won $2.8 million from a $2 bet on MGM Grand Millions in January 2023.
Smaller - but not insignificant - BetMGM jackpot wins in New Jersey this year include one player winning $103,800 while playing Gold Volcano, while another scored $142,780 playing Cleopatra Mega.
Bet MGM was a major contributor to the record $5.21 billion of gambling revenue generated in New Jersey in 2022 - up 10% from 2020.
Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, which uses BetMGM platforms, brought in $496.3 million in iGaming revenue last year, ahead of the FanDuel-affiliated Golden Nugget ($431.7 million) and DraftKings partner Resorts Digital with $393.3 million.
The New Jersey online casinos which form part of the BetMGM jackpot network include BetMGM Casino, Borgata Casino online and PartyCasino.
Speaking about the company’s performance in the iGaming sphere, Oliver Bartlett, director of online gaming at BetMGM, added: “A combination of in-house produced slots and engaging content from our fantastic suppliers has proved to be popular with players and fueled our position as the online casino market leader.
“We love hearing players’ stories and their reactions to winning life changing jackpots.”
Nationally, BetMGM estimates that it has an online casino market share of 29%. As well as New Jersey, BetMGM platforms are available in states such as West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Michigan.
