Scroll of Dead Overview
If you’ve been playing slots long enough, you should know what to expect from any game with the words ‘of dead’ in the title, especially if Play’N Go develops it. The company was the name behind the original Book of Dead slot, which has become the blueprint for all of the ‘of’ titles that have followed. Does Scroll of Dead manage to do anything new and exciting with the premise?
Themes & Design
Of course, like all of the titles in this genre, the Scroll of Dead online slot is based in Ancient Egypt. However, one of the first things you will notice is that Rich Wilde, the protagonist for much of this series, is not present in this title; instead, his daughter, Cat, has stepped in to fill his boots.
The action takes place deep inside an Egyptian temple, and the visuals here are all fairly familiar. There are torches lighting up the action on either side of the reels, and the reels themselves are bordered in rich Egyptian gold.
The symbols in the game are all similar to the ones you will find elsewhere in the series. They include a scarab beetle, various pieces of Egyptian jewellery, and a snake. The standard royal card symbols are all given the hieroglyphic treatment.
The soundtrack for the game feels as though it could have been taken straight from an adventure movie, and some nice sound effects also accompany the action.
Scroll of Dead Game Promotions
The first thing you are likely to notice when you load up Scroll of Dead is that there is a sixth reel that is locked in place. Of course, this is because it is a part of one of the game’s bonus rounds and becomes unlocked when it is triggered.
The bonus round in question is the free spins round. To trigger the round, players will need to land three or more of the scarab beetle scatter symbols. As well as triggering the free spins round, it will also reward a payout. Three will pay out 2x, four will pay out 20x, and five will pay out the highest at 200x.
When the free spins round is launched, the sixth reel will open, increasing winning possibilities. A symbol will also be selected to become an expanding symbol, as is the case with all of the ‘book of’ style titles.
Finally, if you are lucky enough to score a win, you are also given the chance to gamble. You can double, triple, or even quadruple the amount of money you have won, though you can also lose it all as well, so approach with caution.
Scroll of Dead How to Play
Play N’Go always keeps the setup of these games simple, and Scroll of Dead is no different. To start the game, players need to choose the number of paylines that they want active in the slot. The maximum that can be selected is ten, while they can also choose just one. You must also choose your coin size and value. You can bet as little as £0.01 if you have just one payline active and as much as £100, giving you plenty of betting range.
As with most of these titles, Scroll of Dead is a highly volatile slot, meaning players won’t see wins often, but they will probably be good when they do. The RTP of the game is 96.28%.
Scroll of Dead on Mobile
Play’N Go has adapted the slot to make sure that it works on mobile devices, as with all of its titles. You can play Scroll of Dead on either Android or iOS devices, and the slot will maintain all of its gameplay features and bonuses. It is also supported on mobile casino applications.
Scroll of Dead Conclusion
- Fun Gameplay
- Superb Bonuses
- Sixth Reel
- Unoriginal Theme
- Not the Best of Dead Slot
Fans of the ‘of’ series from Play’N Go are going to find plenty to enjoy here, and newcomers to the franchise won’t struggle to get into the swing of things. The addition of the sixth reel makes this stand out from the rest of the entries, while all of the standard bonuses you would expect from this series remain intact. Ultimately, if it isn’t broken, then don’t fix it.
