The original system or strategy is named after the French Casino Biarritz; the establishment Makarov first developed the strategy. The original Biarritz strategy was tailor-made for land-based casinos. The player would first watch 111 rounds of roulette while discretely writing down and analysing winning numbers. This allowed the users of this system to have some understanding of patterns due to flawed tables or croupier habits. The number 111 comes from the number of outcomes on the original French roulette table (37) multiplied by three. The player would then join the roulette table and place bets on their chosen number 37 times in a row, or until they win.

Makarov Roulette Strategy

The Makarov system is a more recent iteration of the Biarritz strategy. This iteration does not require statistical analysis of the first 111 spins. You simply choose a number at random. The rise of online casinos has resulted in a rise in this strategy’s popularity as online roulette is truly random, and results are produced by random number generators (RNGs). How to Play Roulette Using the Makarov-Biarritz strategy?

As we mentioned earlier, the Makarov-Biarritz system is a perfect system for beginners. This strategy should be adjusted for American roulette, which has an extra 0 pocket. For European or French roulette, you simply select a number on the roulette wheel and place the same bet at 35:1 until you win or you have played 36 times.

The Makarov strategy is certainly legal as it is pure chance and does not seek to take advantage of any errors or mistakes the casino might be responsible for. The Biarritz system, however, seeks to take advantage of either a ‘dealer signature’ or roulette wheel bias.
