The biggest gambling payout of 2023 was so large it broke a Guinness World Record. The lucky winner of this record breaking lottery jackpot win, an eye-watering €2.04 billion, was Californian, Edwin Castro.
Castro won the prize money from a $2 Powerball ticket, with it attached to a 29-year payment period. With significant tax deductions applied to US gambling wins, his choice to immediately cash out the win saw it reduced to a lump sum of $997.6 million.
Despite taking more than a 50% hit on his winnings, Castro is still the runaway leader on our 2023 list!
€38.5 Million - Record-Breaking Slots Win (December)
On December 20 2023, one lucky player broke the Guinness World Record for the 'Largest Jackpot Payout on an Online Slot Machine Game'. The incredible WowPot jackpot was triggered on Wheel of Wishes, with the player scooping an eye-watering €38,461,200.95 win.
The previous record jackpot payout was €19.4 million, which was won on the classic progressive jackpot slot game, Mega Moolah.

$14 Million - Biggest Slot Machine Jackpot Payout in Reno History (April)
The biggest slot machine jackpot in Reno history was won back in April last year when a lucky player bagged themselves an incredible $14,005,832 win from just a $10 bet as they scooped the Megabucks jackpot.
The win occurred at Atlantis Casino in Las Vegas, and the news was shared in a Tweet which said: “Congrats to one of our long time Atlantis guests who turned a $10 bet into a Megabucks Jackpot of $14,005,382.09 last night! We’ve confirmed with IGT - this is the biggest slot machine jackpot in Reno History!”
$12.2 Million - Megabucks Slot Pays Out Huge in Las Vegas (October)
Whilst at Excalibur Casino in Las Vegas, and playing the IGT Megabucks Triple Red Hot 7s Spitfire Multipliers slot, an anonymous female player hit the jackpot, winning a whopping $12,185,766. This win marked the second largest Megabucks jackpot to hit in Nevada in 2023.
Lady Luck, let’s call her, wagered $10 a spin on her way to this gigantic win. This was the fourth time in 2023, in Nevada, that IGT crowned another Megabucks millionaire.
$10.5 Million - Megabucks Jackpot Lands in Las Vegas Again (July)
