• 1973 – Branches out into coin-operated arcade games – subsequently releasing smash-hit titles including Paddle Ball, Defender, and Robotron: 2084    
• 1981 – Williams Electronics becomes an independent company
• 1987 – Publicly listed as WMS Industries, Inc.    
• 1988 – Acquires Bally/Midway. The video gaming division moves under the Midway banner – the same Midway which would create the global phenomenon Mortal Kombat.  
• 1991 – WMS Gaming subsidiary set up to oversee Video Lottery Terminals and Gaming Manufacture
• 1994 – WMS Gaming produces their first casino slot machines
• 1999 – Pinball division shuts down
• 2001 – Releases its first Monopoly “participation slot”. Networking between casinos created the potential for huge linked jackpots. 
• 2010 – Begins offering online gaming in the UK
• 2011 – Begins offering online gaming in the US
• 2013 – Becomes a subsidiary of Scientific Games
• 2014 – Releases the brilliant online slot, Zeus
• 2016 – Scientific Games pays $1.5 billion to fully merge with WMS
• 2022 – Scientific Games becomes Light & Wonder
