Indiana breaks its sports betting handle record in January

Sportsbooks in Indiana broke the $500 million handle barrier for the first time in January. The total for January surpasses the previous record of $463M set in November 2021. Compared to the previous month, the total handle for January grew by over 7%.

In Indiana, it took just four months from the law’s passage to the first bet after legalization. Most states credited the NFL betting season for the speedy turnaround. When the first snap struck, retail sportsbooks were ready for business, while online sportsbooks had missed the deadline by about a month. Sports betting’s debut was also well-timed, given Illinois’ slow progress towards it. Today, online Indiana sportsbooks remain a convenient option for many Windy City residents

Several sportsbooks are available to Hoosiers and sports betting enthusiasts, including DraftKings Sportsbook Indiana, FanDuel Sportsbook Indiana, BetRivers Sportsbook Indiana, BetAmericaBetMGM Sportsbook Indiana, PointsBet Sportsbook Indiana, Unibet Sportsbook Indiana, and Caesars Sportsbook Indiana. Indiana residents can bet on all games, teams, and players across college and professional sports.
